2025-01-23: Beginning Quilt Class (Jan. 2025) with Sherry Chisum



This is a seven-session class taught over four weeks. This class offers an introduction to various classic piecing methods for quilt making.


Each student will make six different blocks with sashing and borders added to incorporate into a lap-sized sampler quilt. Basic 1/4 inch seam, measuring and cutting methods, construction, and finishing will be taught.

Instructor, Sherry Chisum's class is guaranteed to be the beginning of a fun, fulfilling, and exciting new hobby for a newbie or even a brush-up refresher course for a rusty quilter! A portable sewing machine, basic supplies, and fabric will be needed by each participant.

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Basic skills are taught with rotary cutting, ruler usage, 1/4" seams, and general tips for accuracy and pattern reading.
Requirements: Basic portable working sewing machine Sewing Machine Needles pins Thread Seam Ripper Thread snippers/scissors rotary cutter cutting mat portable iron Starch 6x24 in. quilter ruler 12.5 x 12.5 in. Ruler Marking pens Additional supplies needed: Five fabrics according to to handout available at Six Mile Quilting Optional: 1-3/4 yards fabric for backing Binding fabric
